CANCELLED: Give Public Comment to End City's 90-Day Shelter Eviction Policy

  • San Francisco City Hall (map)

Update 6/15/2025: This event is cancelled for now.

We heard from Supervisor Fielder that she is in negotiations with the Department of Homelessness over ending the experimental eviction policy. While there is no agreement yet, the Supervisor will not be bringing the legislation to the Rules Committee Monday, in order to allow for more time for discussions.

We will keep you posted, but the bottom line is that our collective organizing is working!

Join us and give public comment at the board of supervisors rules committee!

Since February, we've been living with the stress and anxiety caused by an experimental new policy of evicting families from City shelters after 90 days. Each month we have to beg for extensions and hope we don’t get kicked out to the curb. We think experimenting on families with children like this is cruel, and a violation of children's rights.

D9 Supervisor Jackie Fielder has introduced an ordinance which would end the City's shelter eviction policy. This legislation will be heard at the Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on Monday, June 16, at 10 am: Can you join us and give public comment?

For more background on this misguided policy experiment and the real solutions to child homelessness, read the opinion article that two of us published in the SF Examiner last month.
