Voter outreach opportunities
Indivisible SF is committed to getting our fellow citizens registered and out to vote. We are working to flip the Senate and White House to Blue as well as holding onto the House of Representatives.
Our main methods of doing this are through text banking, postcard and letter writing, and phone banking. Please see below for specific ways to get involved with Indivisible SF and sister organizations!
We’d also love to see you at our virtual General Meetings where you can hear more about our efforts in person, ask questions and share your ideas. They are the first and third Sunday of the month at 1pm. See our Events page for the General Meeting sign-up link.
Another way to stay connected is to sign up for our Newsletter, where we will highlight our voter outreach efforts each week.
And for a full calendar of GOTV and election-related events, check out our GOTV calendar!
Text Banking
Six in ten Americans send and receive text messages, which makes text banking a satisfying, effective way to reach voters we might not be able to connect with otherwise, in a format they’re comfortable using. And it really works—recent research shows that text banking can increase candidate name recognition by up to 20% and boost voter support by nearly 10%. That’s the kind of thing that wins elections!
So if you're ready to support progressive candidates and get voters active with groups working to get vulnerable Republicans out of office, you have two options:
IndivisiText: This is Indivisible National’s text banking program. Get started by signing up for a mandatory training—then text on your own time! Note: IndivisiText is currently closed to new sign-ups. The moderators are currently devoting 100% of their volunteer time to moderating, so they’re not available to train new texters at this time. If you want to get started ASAP, check out Field Team 6!
Field Team 6: Currently running weekend text banks every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Training for first-timers is at 11:30 AM Pacific; texting begins at noon.
Postcards and Letter Writing
Indivisible SF has our own virtual Pints and Postcards event where we partner with Vote Forward to get addresses and customizable letters for writing to our fellow citizens.
Our sister chapter across the Bay, Indivisible East Bay, also has virtual Postcard and Letter Writing parties. You can find their 2020 election events here!
You can register directly with Vote Forward to write letters and postcards.
Other organizations that we recommend include Flip The West, Swing Left and Sister District for State legislative races.
Phone Banking
While Indivisible SF does not host any phone banking meetings ourselves, we are happy to promote the events by our sister chapter, Indivisible East Bay. You can find their 2020 election events here!
We also list phone banking meetings hosted by Democracy Action on our events page.
