Call Script

My name is __________. I am a constituent, and my zip code is _______. I am a member of Indivisible SF.

RFK Jr. is dismantling public health and limiting access to critical healthcare. He cannot remain in control of HHS. Vote for hearings and impeachment of RFK Jr.

NOTE: You can also reach out to people you know who are constituents of Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee. Ask them to voice their dissatisfaction with Kennedy and his stripping of HHS. Cassidy is both influential and uniquely positioned to shape oversight of RFK Jr.’s actions as HHS Secretary. He has a medical background and has expressed interest in using “quiet diplomacy” in regard to RFK Jr.

You can also contact media directories and tell them to report responsibly on RFK Jr. and his “MAHA” proclamations. https://www.mediaanddemocracyproject.org/journalism-directory-list/california

Will RFK Jr. be the last misfit standing or the next misfit fired?

To win a spot in Donald Trump’s cabinet there are requirements. Being a billionaire helps. Undying loyalty to Trump, the ability to look past his lies and disregard for the constitution and human life are essential. Being born into a storied political family steeped in glamor, tragedy and at the forefront of pivotal moments in US history is also a plus. Who knows, some of that glitter might rub off? Inexperience and lack of subject-matter expertise are, oddly enough, not a problem. As we dig into this band of boot lickers and misfits, assembled by the convicted-felon-in-chief, there’s one that deserves special attention: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—an ill-equipped loose cannon with no way to remain relevant but to throw himself at the feet of Donald Trump.

Kennedy swung right after ending his independent run for the presidency in August 2024, aligning himself with Trump. Most of his career was spent as a lawyer representing environmental groups in lawsuits against polluters. But the seeds of an anti-vaxxer were already there, so, seeing no other alternative, he took the plunge into conspiracy-theory rabbit holes. RFK Jr.’s presence on the national stage was fading fast and he needed a way to remain relevant, no matter what sacrifices in terms of integrity he would be forced to make.

As we move into another COVID-19 winter and another flu season, and the dissatisfaction with Kennedy and his damaging policies grow, we need the media and Congress to keep pushing for him to step down or be removed as Secretary. No official action has been taken against Kennedy in spite of the facts piling up against him. Much has already been said and written about the miscast HHS Secretary but it’s not enough. The lives of our children, seniors and everyone in between depend on a much bigger effort on the part of our elected officials and the media who need to be there when we need them.

Damaging our institutions

Kennedy forced out the CDC director, Susan Monarez, one month into her tenure, calling her untrustworthy after she refused to rubber stamp questionable vaccine guidance before reviewing the scientific rationale behind it. He also asked her to fire high ranking CDC staff without any performance-based rationale. She said no, so he fired her.

  • Inserted political appointees into FDA and CDC scientific review processes, ignoring institutional expertise.

  • Eroded scientific integrity. An open letter from more than 1,000 current and former HHS employees warned the public that Kennedy’s personnel and policy choices “endangered the nation’s health” leaving vital public health missions broken.

Termination of $122 million in DEI and LGBTQ grants across HHS to advance Trump’s straight-white-men-only agenda

  • $5.5M to Vanderbilt University to recruit tenure-track faculty from diverse groups.

  • $4.6M to Drexel University for mentoring diverse faculty in health disparities research.

  • Removed DEI language from agency websites and slashed grants containing terms like “diverse,” “minority,” or “gender inclusive.”

  • Ended the NIH’s Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS) program, citing the Supreme Court’s affirmative action ruling and Trump’s executive order to dismantle federal DEI programs

Scaring people away from the vaccinations they need

Dr. Peter Marks, the FDA’s primary vaccine regulator, resigned after clashing with Kennedy over Kennedy’s demands for “subservient confirmation” of “misinformation and lies.”

Analysts from Cantor Fitzgerald have explicitly called for the Trump administration to “re-evaluate” Kennedy’s role, citing concerns that his “apparent anti-science and libertarian agenda” pose a significant threat to public health, and it is moving the public health narrative into “dangerous territory.” This confusion, at the highest levels of government, was considered to be the primary reason for a significant downturn in vaccine company stocks, with more volatility predicted.

RFK Jr’s biases and lack of experience lead HHS down a dangerous rabbit hole, all while Trump gives him license to “go wild” on dismantling healthcare.

  • No medical or public-health training, no history in healthcare policy or administration.

  • Sole leadership experience was running a small nonprofit of fewer than ten staff, nowhere near the 80,000-member HHS workforce.

  • Decades undermining vaccines with conspiracy-laden claims, eroding public trust.

  • Poor grasp of basic healthcare financing and policy systems in Senate hearings.

  • Belligerent, disrespectful behavior toward the senators in those hearings.

  • Ideological bias, pressuring career scientists to replace evidence-based recommendations with unvetted guidance.

  • Publicly minimized the threat of infectious diseases.

  • No expert review by the CDC of routine vaccine recommendations. Politicizing a trusted evidence-based process.

  • U.S. withdrawal of its ~$1.3 billion annual contribution to Gavi, the global vaccine alliance. Putting at risk immunization programs that support vaccination of nearly 300 million children worldwide.

  • Sowing doubts among the public using unwarranted high-profile questioning of thimerosal and mRNA vaccine safety. In conjunction with already declining national childhood immunization rates, this raises the risk of outbreaks of measles, mumps, and rubella.

  • Eroding vaccine-advisory infrastructure will further depress U.S. immunization coverage—already on a downward trend—making the nation less equipped to contain outbreaks of preventable diseases.

  • Misuse of VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) data to allege COVID-19 vaccine deaths among children, despite no substantiated cases.

  • Unreasonable restrictions on COVID-19 booster eligibility, exposing millions of Americans to increased risks of hospitalization and death from COVID-19.

Articles of impeachment have been filed

Many Democrats have called for Kennedy’s resignation, but Haley Stevens, Democratic Congresswoman from Michigan’s 11th Congressional District is the first to file articles of impeachment against the Secretary. The success of the action is a long shot due to Republican control of the House and Senate but it is something Democratic lawmakers can at least get on the right side of, and it increases pressure on Kennedy to step down to save face, or be fired to save Trump’s face. An impeachment attempt can shape media coverage labeling Kennedy as dangerous, and energize key voting blocs including healthcare workers, scientists and parents.
